‘Big call’ – Bolton Wanderers fans give verdict on Dapo Afolayan decision for Ipswich Town clash

Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt has made four changes to his side to take in Ipswich Town today and one of them is Dapo Afolayan dropping ot the bench.

James Trafford has been handed his Bolton debut in place of Joel Dixon in a change in the Wanderers goalkeeping department.

Gethin Jones also returns to the starting line-up after returning from injury off the bench in midweek, with Declan John as left-back and Ricardo Almeida Santos partnered in the heart of defence by George Johnston.

In central midfield, Aaron Morley comes in to make his debut too and will start alongside MJ Williams and Kieran Lee.

Bolton’s front three today is poised to line up as Marlon Fossey on the right, with Dion Charles leading the line through the middle and Amadou Bakayoko on the left flank.

It means Bolton’s top scorer so far this season, Afolayan, is not involved from the start today and has to make do with a place on the bench.

Wanderers fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on Evatt’s decision to take Afolayan out of the team.

And many, while admitting the decision is a big call, are supportive of the decision in what is the key talking point from the team news.

@colbiebwfc77 posted: “Smart from Evatt, Ipswich clearly set up to play against Dapo after him tearing them apart last time, defo disrupted their preparation and more firepower on the bench.”

@aaron_bwfc posted: “Like the looks of that team, Dapo has been off it recently so a deserved bench place for the lad – good option to have as a sub.”

@NmBWFC posted: “Glad Dapo’s been benched it needed to happen , hopefully comes on and impacts the game!”
