Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku ‘held positive talks’ with Thomas Tuchel following bombshell interview and could appear against Tottenham in Carabao Cup semi-final

Romelu Lukaku reportedly held clear the air talks with Thomas Tuchel on Monday and could appear for Chelsea in their Carabao Cup clash against Tottenham.

The Belgian, who rejoined the Blues for a club record £97.5million from Inter Milan last summer, was dropped for the Blues’ 2-2 draw with Liverpool at the weekend after voicing his frustration at the club in an interview which was released earlier in the week.

The striker said he was ‘not happy’ with the role he has been playing of late and added he would like to return to the Italian club in the future.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the 28-year-old held a face-to-face meeting with Tuchel after training with his teammates on Monday. The report adds the meeting was ‘positive’.

It is said he could even face Tottenham in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg on Wednesday night – live on talkSPORT.

However, Jamie O’Hara on Monday said that Chelsea can forget about the title following Lukaku’s mindless comments and their draw with Liverpool, which saw them drop ten points behind runaway leaders Manchester City.

“I just don’t think Chelsea are good enough at the moment, especially with the Lukaku situation as well,” O’Hara said.

“It’ll be focus on the Champions League now for Liverpool and Chelsea.”

And Lukaku’s former boss at Inter, Antonio Conte, remained tight-lipped on the Belgian’s situation at Chelsea ahead of Spurs’ trip to Stamford Bridge.

“Honestly I’d like not to speak about Romelu because Romelu’s now a player of another team,” the Italian said.

“I think it would be disrespectful to speak about him and Chelsea.”

“I think that it’s always a good thing to play against a team that all the players are available. I think for the people who watch the game I think to see the best players on the pitch,” Conte added.
