David de Gea explains how Ralf Rangnick has changed Manchester United training

David de Gea says there is no let-up when it comes to Manchester United training sessions with Ralf Rangnick.

Having been displaced by Dean Henderson between the sticks at the end of last season, the long-serving goalkeeper is back as first-choice at Old Trafford as he continues to rediscover his best form.

The 31-year-old has played in all but two matches this campaign under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Michael Carrick and interim manager Rangnick.

United are set to return to action against Newcastle on Monday night after a Covid-19 outbreak forced postponements against Brentford and Brighton, while operations at the Carrington training base also had to be temporarily shut down.

Rangnick and his squad are fighting fit amid ongoing pandemic-related issues across the Premier League.

Back together at their training base, once again, De Gea has lifted the lid on what sessions have been like since the innovative German stepped into the breach to replace Solskjaer.

Speaking to the MUFC website, De Gea said: “It’s good to have the whole team back to train properly altogether and then, of course, see they are all safe.

“They are back, they are all training, they are fine, so it’s great to be together again.

“We’ve been training hard, of course. It’s very intense, every training session, every moment with him [Rangnick] is intense. You have to give 100 per cent every time in training and in the games.

“Let’s see. It’s just the beginning, it’s been a couple of weeks, so let’s see in the future.

“The team is training with energy, with pace, and now we have to show that in big games.”
