Kevin kept a close lid on what the storyline could be, but did say that there could be more than one funeral on the horizon.

He said: “All I can say is Charles is going to have a lot of work to do, and he’ll be going around checking on his parishioners, seeing if people are okay and there might be the odd funeral. I’ll leave it at that, I think I’ve said too much already.”

He also suggested that there was more drama to come following Meena Jutla’s imprisonment for murder, teasing that viewers should expect some big scenes.

He said: “You’ll have to check out the 50th anniversary special, that’s all I’m gonna say. I won’t say any more.”

Kevin also opened up about Charles’ upcoming storylines, including new scenes that would deal with his past and give fans the opportunity to learn about his backstory.

He continued: “I think it’s good people will get to know Charles and that he has had his flaws, and it brings the character off the page, that he has had a past. I’m not saying it’s a bad past but he’s human you know.”
