The Lord of the Rings star took to Instagram in January 2021 to reveal she’d recovered from COVID-19, and said while she’d only had “COVID-lite,” it was still a pretty scary experience.
“I’m such a private and shy person and usually don’t share such things, but this is a big one,” she wrote, posting a photo with two of her children, Sailor, 5, and Lula, 4.
“I tested positive for COVID-19 on New Year’s Eve day,” she wrote. “I had made it all the way through 2020, keeping myself and my family safe. Doing everything I could to protect my wolf pack and follow the rules to protect others. Suddenly on the morn of the last day of 2020… boom, it took me down.
“It comes on fast, like a locomotive… with it, feelings of fear, shame and guilt swirling through you – who could you ache gotten it from, and who could you have infected? Terrifying,” she continued.
She added that the experience made her isolate alone in her room for 10 days, during which she couldn’t really get out of bed since the illness “floored” her. She said she was also thankful that her family tested negative. Her kids kept her going by sending her messages, which they’d pass underneath the door, she said.
“I am humbled and filled with gratitude, to be well, a gift and beaming love and light to all the who have left this world because of this virus and those who are suffering,” she finished. “Sending love and imaginary universal hugs to all.”
