Meghan Markle is set to appear on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ this week

Duchess Meghan is set to appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Nov. 18 for her first interview since she and Prince Harry sat down with Oprah Winfrey back in March.

The Duchess of Sussex’s episode will see her join the comedian at the Warner Bros. studio lot – with which she’s very familiar.

A hilarious clip released in anticipation of the show’s release features the 40-year-old mom of two share a very funny anecdote about how she used to get to and from work when she was on the lot years ago. While Meghan might be a duchess now and also had a very successful acting career before meeting the Duke of Sussex, she had what Ellen described as “a very special car.”

“It had a life of its own,” Meghan said, laughing. “I had this very, very old Ford Explorer Sport, and at a certain point, the key stopped working in the driver’s side, so you couldn’t get yourself in through the door.

“So after auditions, I would park at the back of the parking lot and I would open the trunk and climb in and then pull it shut behind me and crawl over all my seats to get out. That’s how I would come to and fro.”

Of course, Ellen then could not hilariously resist asking, “Did anyone ever see you climb through a trunk?”

(To be honest, we were also wondering. And don’t lie, so were you.)

“I would play it off – ‘Just looking for highlighters for my script!’ – and then climb in,” the royal responded.

As for what else the two will discuss during Meghan’s appearance on the show, we should expect them to talk about the duchess’ best-selling children’s book,
The Bench, the Sussexes’ work with their non-profit, Archewell, and perhaps even their daughter, Lilibet, who was born in June.

Meghan and Ellen have known each other for years. Back in 2019, Ellen was one of the first of Harry and Meghan’s celebrity friends to meet
Archie, the couple’s son. The duchess and talk show host’s friendship goes all the way back to when she adopted her rescue dog, Bogart, from a shelter. Ellen was there at the same time, and Meghan has said it was the comedy legend who told her she needed to take Bogart home and could tell right away that Bogart should be her dog.

“And she walks outside to get into her car, but instead of getting in she turns around and comes and taps on the window glass and she yells, ‘Take the dog!’ And so I brought him home,” Meghan told
Best Health later. “Because Ellen told me too.”

We would have the same reaction!

This will be Meghan’s first time appearing on Ellen’s show, which is set to end following this season. Back in May, when she made the announcement, Ellen told
The Hollywood Reporter she wants to open her campus of the Ellen DeGeneres Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund in Rwanda next year. Since conservation and the environment are also causes close to Harry and Meghan’s hearts, we wouldn’t be surprised if we see the three working much more closely together in the future!
