Liverpool showing ‘strongest interest’ in Scottish defender

Liverpool are reportedly one of a number of clubs eyeing a move for Scottish defender Jamie Hamilton.

The 19-year-old currently represents Hamilton Academical in the second tier of Scottish football and is out of contract in the summer.

According to TEAMtalk, Scottish top-flight trio Aberdeen, Celtic and Hibernian are all interested and interest also extends to England.

The report adds that Brighton, Brentford, Burnley and Newcastle are among the Premier League sides competing with Liverpool for his signature. Meanwhile Championship sides Barnsley, Blackburn, Blackpool, Middlesbrough and Sunderland are also reportedly considering pre-contract offers for the Scotland youth star.

But TEAMtalk claim that the ‘strongest interest’ is coming from the Reds, with Michael Edwards is considering Hamilton as a recruit should Nat Phillips depart.
