Manchester United turn to Tariq Lamptey and other transfer rumours

Manchester United are reportedly in the hunt for defensive reinforcements at right-back in the form of Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey, according to reports.

The Reds are said to be looking for an upgrade on current options Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot who have both been involved this season after a dip in form from the English full-back.

Dalot was linked with intensely linked with a move back to Serie A but with AS Roma, this time around, as Jose Mourinho looked to sign the 22-year-old for a second time after bringing him to Old Trafford.

His emergence in the first-team and the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer scuppered plans to show the Portugal international the door. in order to pave way for Kieran Trippier to join the club – who has recently signed for Newcastle United.

The Daily Mail report that United have a strong interest in the former Chelsea full-back but they have reached a stumbling block.

They currently value the England youngster at £30m whilst Graham Potter’s side will be looking to pocket closer to £40m.

Wan-Bissaka signed for £50m just two years ago but has failed to reach the heights that earned him a move from Crystal Palace and has since struggled to adapt to new interim boss Ralf Rangnick’s style.

Meanwhile, Eric Bailly could go out on loan this month with AC Milan interested.

Gazzetta dello Sport, via Forza Italian Football, say that the Reds are open to letting the defender leave on loan.

He is said to be disgruntled by his lack of first-team opportunities as he has fallen behind Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof in the pecking order.

However, United may follow suit defensively as they have done between the sticks. Dean Henderson’s attempts for a loan move have been blocked as Rangnick looks to keep a hold of his goalkeeping candidates,

Injury and illness to Maguire and Lindelof, respectively, saw the Reds forced into fielding Phil Jones for the first time in the Premier League for 700 days and could scupper Stefano Pioli’s attempts to ease the damage left from Simon Kjaer’s season-ending injury.
