Roy Keane shares New Year snap with ‘boss’ mum – and fans all reply the same thing

Roy Keane’s Instagram followers had exactly the same thought after he posted a sweet snap alongside mother Marie to celebrate the beginning of the New Year.

The former Manchester United captain turned Sky Sports pundit regularly delights viewers with his brutal verdicts on Premier League stars – once saying after a player was praised: “That’s his job.”

That has given his followers on social media the same idea following his latest upload, with a series of comments mocking his message in good faith after he said his mum was the only boss he needs.

Keane’s caption reads: “The only boss I listen to.”

The famous quote came after Micah Richards praised Manchester City and England defender Kyle Walker for using pace to his advantage while defending against Liverpool in the Premier League.

Keane said: “That’s his job, you know? You’re supposed to run back, that’s what defenders do.”

Adding: “He’s had a very good career. That’s a nice snippet there because once again it was his pace that got him out of trouble.

“He’s had a very good career and I’m sure there’s plenty more to come from him, but I still think (he lacks) concentration and he makes too many mistakes.”

Keane has also picked out David de Gea and Harry Maguire for individual criticism in recent seasons, explaining how he would treat the pair if he ended up as their manager.

Speaking on the first episode of Micah Richards & Roy Keane Driving Home for Christmas, he said: “The first thing I’d do is pull them two and say prove me wrong.

“That’s the end of the conversation. And if they get upset it’s no problem. Players are upset all the time. It’s not about the players liking the manager. You hope the players respect the manager.”
